On May 1st, 1989 four teens from Seabrook, NH piled into a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass and made a 42 mile trek to Derry, NH.  Their intent was to ambush and murder a 23 year old insurance salesman as he arrived home from work.  The end result was the tragic death of   Gregory Smart and the beginning of one of the most intriguing homicide cases in the nation.

This web site has been broken down into four main sections covering the planning and murder of Gregory Smart, the investigation into his death, the trial and conviction of the murderers, and the insatiable appetite of the media during the whole process.  

 

Care has been taken to be sure the facts as published are accurate.   

The Gregory Smart homicide case generated thousands of news stories world-wide through print and television news. It was the subject of two made for TV movies, two true crime books, three semi-fictional novels, a half-dozen tabloid news segments, and three true life crime reporting segments on cable television.
